Couples who attend church - how do you decide how much time and money to give to your church?

Is time spend volunteering at church more important than time spent on/with your kids. Does tithing come before bills are paid? Any disagreements in your household about this?Couples who attend church - how do you decide how much time and money to give to your church?
Family time trumps church time everytime. As much as service is important, it should never be at the neglect of the family. If a man cannot take care of his family, he has no business taking care of anything else.

The tithe belongs to the Lord. We make sure it comes out first. We have never seen that it made a difference in how our bills get paid and trust me - we have hit it quite close and have had our share of tough times. We have tithed for years and the bills have gotten paid. If there were some bills we could not pay, keeping the tithe would not have made much of a difference, anyway. So, we continue to tithe.

My wife and I make sure that we are in agreement with anything concerning finances and the family. If we are not in agreement concerning anything, we either come to a common ground or pray about it and see what the Lord has to say.Couples who attend church - how do you decide how much time and money to give to your church?
I base my donation on how good the singing is.
Tithing is one of the greatest deceptions that has been perpetrated on Christians by many churches.

A tithe was a tenth of the increase of produce and livestock only. Wage earners did not pay tithes.

So all these churches are perverting the word of God.

Christians were never a party to the old covenant, where tithing is commanded. Christians are both dead to the law, and dead to sin.

The ministry was to be supported by free will offerings. But they didn't have enough faith in God for God to provide for them through the free-will offerings of Christians, so they teach tithing, and insist it is a violation of faith to not tithe.

Talk about hypocrisy...

In essence there is no requirement for Christians to tithe. At no time were first-century Christians commanded to pay tithes. The Old Testament established a principle for OT times - not for NT times. The primary purpose of the tithing arrangement under the Law had been to support Israel's temple and priesthood; consequently the obligation to pay tithes ceased when that Mosaic Law covenant came to an end as fulfilled through Christ's death. Levitical priests continued serving at the temple in Jerusalem until it was destroyed in 70 C.E., but Christians from and after 33 C.E. became part of a new spiritual priesthood that was not supported by tithes. The matter is summed up in 2 Corinthians 9:7; ' ... each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

NOTE - 'giving' not 'tithing'.
IT is easy for us we always pay ten percent of what we make and yes even when bills are hard on us. we know that we will blessed more then we gave just by giving what we did. we dont disagree. and volunteering doesnt have to take time away from your time with the kids, involve them and they will grow up to respect and help others just like you do, be an example.
my children attend the parish school, so I consider it an investment in their future.

no disagreements - we both realize it's necessary to be involved.
